About this work
This piece is from a body of work titled The Haggard Inconstant Flashes Of Beauty, a quote taken from the 2013 film The Great Beauty. While the film is a meditation on our modern existence within cities with themes circulating culture, love, loss, loneliness, power and vanity, I have taken it to meditate on our relationship with nature – or, indeed, our loss of one. In this body of work, I am seeking a reconnection with nature through taking time to notice the flashes of beauty within the cycle of life, death and decay. Here, there are fragments of memories, moments in time, and the act of piecing together a connection lost.
