About

Born in Aotearoa New Zealand and currently based in Naarm/Melbourne, I am a visual artist specialising in layered, abstract mixed-media paintings.
Although art was always a part of my childhood, it wasn’t a straightforward career path. Encouraged to pursue a more traditional route, I first earned degrees in Business and Health Science, building a professional career in those fields for over a decade. However, a long-held, intuitive calling to make art led me to pursue a more fulfilling creative path.
In 2017, I completed a drawing course and spent time living and working in New York, an experience that profoundly shaped my artistic practice. Since then, my work has been collected internationally. In 2023, I was honoured to be selected by the co-founder and curator of the National Emerging Art Prize (Australia) to participate in a group exhibition. This opportunity led to my first solo exhibition with Michael Reid Northern Beaches in early 2024, followed by a second solo show later that year at Brunswick Street Gallery in Melbourne. I have also participated in several group exhibitions, including a return to Michael Reid Northern Beaches in early 2025. Currently, I am in the final year of a Bachelor of Fine Art (Painting) at RMIT University.
I am inspired by things that move me. I instinctively manipulate raw line drawings with acrylics and oils to create pieces that, in their purest form, play with dimension, colour, and texture, through an elaborate play of layered mark-making.
I am fascinated with the human experience – our fears, loves, passions, anxieties, and the stories we tell ourselves in order to live – we are extraordinarily complex. My experience in the field of health science influenced me to explore human behaviour, and how our contradicting layers of character are presented to the world. Using different mediums to express these layers – foundational line drawings represent vulnerability and naivety, layered and protected by paint, texture and colour, representing time and experience – I explore the complexity of human nature, often obliterating parts of the image to depict a sense of duality in the creation and destruction of self.
